In conclusion the social structures of both Athens and Sparta and the daily life of the women in both city states have been influenced by their governing systems, if the Spartan city state structure was not militaristic and was more of a mercantile state like Athens and the men were not forced by the governing structure to stay in the barracks until they were thirty women might have played a completely different role and the same goes for Athens, imagine if Athens had been like Sparta in its golden age, women would have played a much larger part due to the government being focused on war.
